shooting spree today on the "gun free zone" campus of Virginia Tech killing at least 32 people. The death toll is expected to rise.
This must come as a total shock to Virginia Tech spokesman
Larry Hincker who, in January 2006, had this to say in celebration of the Virginia legislature's refusal to grant gun rights to people on college campuses:
I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus.Hey, Larry, today's events on your campus tragically demonstrate that feeling safe and being safe are two very different things.
Though the murderer is solely responsible for the death of these victims, the Virginia General Assembly and Virginia Tech's gun-free zone policy rendered them sitting ducks.
